Dr Crean has since 2006 accumuluted experience as a Prinicipal Clinical Psychologist within the area of adult Learning Disability. She is currently employed by Merseycare NHS Foundation Trust as the lead psychologist for the Forensic Support Service, a consultancy service for Learning Disabled adults in contact with the Criminal Justice Systm for the North-West area. For 8 years, she worked as the Lead Clinical Psychologist in South Manchester Learning Disability Partnership, a joint NHS and social care service. Prior to training with Merseycare NHS she worked with Older Adult services and Drug and Alcohol treatment services across Greater Manchester. She acts as an examiner and clinical placement supervisor for the Universities of Manchester, Lancaster and Liverpool Doctoral Training programmes.
Dr Crean has acted as an expert witness since 2008, assessing clients for diagnosis of learning disability, fitness to plead and Mental Capacity Act assessments, including capacity to parent and capacity to conduct Court proceedings. She has worked on many NHS cases with clients who are involved in court of protection, family court and criminal court matters. She is fully accredited as an Expert Witness with Cardiff University/Bond Solon and has completed training days in 'Excellence in Report Writing', 'Courtroom Skills', 'Cross Examination' and 'Criminal Law and Procedure'.
