Dr Musters is a Consultant Adult and Perinatal Psychiatrist with broad experience in clinical and Medico-Legal practice. He works extensively in Family and Civil Courts, and specialises in the preparation of reports in Children Act and Clinical Negligence proceedings.

Dr Musters has particular experience assessing patients who received negligent obstetric or gynaecological care, or negligent mental healthcare in the perinatal period. He also has particular experience assessing mothers who have deliberately harmed their children, including cases of Factitious and Induced Illness.

Within the NHS, Dr Musters is clinical lead for the specialist Perinatal service in the East London borough of Newham, treating pregnant and postnatal women suffering from mental health problems.  He specialises in the management of patients with psychotic illness, severe mood disorders and personality disorders, co-ordinating complex packages of care and working closely with child protection agencies to assess and manage risk. In addition, Dr Musters is highly experienced in helping patients from culturally diversebackgrounds, and patients with a history of trauma and abuse.

Dr Musters has a Master’s Degree in Culture and Health, with a particular focus on transcultural psychiatry, and is part of the Royal College of Psychiatrists Expert Reference Group on Factitious and Induced Illness.
